Hello Friends!
Welcome to my website. I hope you will use it to find out more about me, and learn how I hope to serve you for the next four years on City Council. I have chosen to run for re-election to District 1 because I love the work I do as your representative. Service to people has always been the cornerstone of my life since I was a kid. In my current work on City Council, I find it very fulfilling to dedicate my time to ensuring that our residents have safe, clean, livable neighborhoods and a wealth of opportunities to prosper and thrive.
My second reason for running is to bring harmony back to our community. Over the past two years, Fort Collins has become fractured. Starkly different points of view have created an undercurrent of discontent. On one hand, City Council is telling the public what they think is good for them. On the other hand, a large portion of the community believe that Council does not listen when they try to explain what is important to them. They believe that their Council members should be working for THEM. But, in reality, collaboration and community outreach have become rare occurrences.
In addition, state legislation is gradually taking away our local control and the people of Fort Collins feel they are losing their voice. There are those who will disagree vehemently with my point of view, but I truly believe that we, as representatives, need to start listening more and directing less. We were given two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak. I intend to continue leading in that direction.
When I first joined City Council in 2019, we worked together with the community and had fun. I propose we go back to that model and move forward with a positive frame of mind. There are a number of hot issues to contend with and much unfinished business that I would like to be a part of over the next four years. There will be new priorities to be set, and I want you to be an active part of that process. I definitely believe my 14 years of experience as an elected official and the wisdom I have gained from this work have equipped me to tackle these issues and work toward solutions. I hope you will support me with your vote and your donation and give me the privilege of continuing to serve you in District 1 and throughout Fort Collins.
